Does GateUP change the rules of school?
No. Schools keep their rules and frameworks. GateUP just opens a new space for challenges, teamwork, and real-life questions.
How does it support teachers?
Teachers get ready-to-use packs with stories, worksheets, videos, and creative tasks. It saves their time and still connects with the curriculum.
How much does it cost?
About €4 (100 Kč) per student per year. The money covers platform development and upgrades, operated by the non-profit Crystal Key.
Who runs it?
A team of teachers, students, and innovators from the Czech Republic, supported by student parliaments and international partners.
What makes it different from other platforms?
It links subjects through English, connects learning with real jobs and crafts, and brings teamwork into the center of school life.
What role do young people play?
They are not only the target group – they are active partners. Students help shape the project and decide how money flows back into their community.
Is AI everywhere in GateUP?
No. AI is just a smart helper – it explains tasks if someone is absent or confused and never replaces human teachers. For advanced students, it can prepare extra examples and higher-level challenges, so everyone can move forward at their own pace.
What is the long-term vision?
A sustainable, youth-led model that does not depend on endless grants. Students learn to manage resources responsibly, and results stay in the community.
How does scaling work?
GateUP is built to scale step by step – from local schools to whole regions and beyond. Data and content are updated every year to match real labour-market needs.
The license fee returns to young people and communities, who can reinvest it into projects that move their town forward.
GateUP is also part of a full ecosystem:
KeyUP (6–11) – playful CLIL challenges.
GateUP (11–16) – real-life challenges (Level 1 now, Level 2 prepared).
ActUP (16+) – projects with direct impact.
